Born in Brooklyn, New York, John Rosatti was the son of a seamstress and a city worker. Even though he experienced many hardships during his upbringing, he has gone on to accomplish many incredible things in the world of business. In fact, Mr. Roasatti is one of New York’s most successful businessmen. Mr. Rosatti has overcome many trials and tribulations during his lifetime. Currently, he runs many successful businesses in the New York area, and spends a lot of time with his friends and family.
Upbringing
John Rosatti was born in the diverse city of Brooklyn, New York to his loving parents Edward John Rosatti and Angeline Rosatti. His father worked for the city while his mother made extra money for the family by working as a seamstress. John also had an older sister named Dorothy with whom he lived with his parents in a small, basement apartment in Brooklyn. From a young age, John exhibited a keen understanding of the world around him and was very considered very intelligent for a child. As did most Italian children in the neighborhood, John and his sister attended Catholic schools growing up.
Automobile Industry
John grew up enjoying the large, family dinners he and his relatives commonly had. They would routinely sit around the dinner table for hours exchanging wonderful stories and enjoying fantastic home cooked meals. One of John’s favorite relatives was his grandfather, John Adam Bassett, who was a decorated United States Naval Officer. His grandfather had changed his last name from Rosatti to Bassett in order to avoid discrimination in the workplace. He served valiantly during World War II, and his heroics are documented in the book, “Force Mulberry: The Planning and Installation of the Artificial Harbor of U.S. Normandy Beaches in WWII” (Whitehead Press). It was from his grandfather that John Rosatti learned the importance of a hard day’s work.
Hard Work
When John was growing up in Brooklyn, he learned to appreciate the large family dinners he and his relatives would regularly have. They would all come over to John’s family’s small apartment and eat and tell stories for hours. One of John’s favorite relatives was his grandfather, John Bassett, who changed his name to avoid discrimination in the workplace. John’s grandfather was an officer in the United States Navy, and served his country valiantly during World War II.
Personal Loss
In 1997, John experienced personal tragedy when his father perished in a fiery car crash. Also, three years later, John’s wife was killed in a similar car accident. This was certainly a dark time in the life of John Rosatti. However, he was determined not to let personal tragedies define him as a person. He was left to raise his three children alone. After he moved them to Florida, he took up sailing. He and his children regularly spend weekends on John’s boat enjoying the south Florida lifestyle.
In 2002, John made a donation to the Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, FL. The Benjamin School is where John’s three children attend. John donated a million dollars to the school to build the Rosatti Administration/Library and Media Center. He named the building in memory of his late wife, Bonni. John has been incredibly successful in the world of business, and has raised a beautiful family. He has also been able to overcome tragedies that would have devastated a other people. He is the embodiment of the American dream. He is an individual who, through hard work and determination, was able to build a successful business empire. He was also able to accomplish this while still spending time with those he loved around him.
