Working from home has a lot of perks–not only do I save a 2 hours I would’ve otherwise spent commuting but I’m also by far more efficient than my office environment allows. As an added benefit it makes it possible to have a coffee break in the middle of the day with a bit of blogging thrown in. I wish I had more days like this. Oh wow! It’s been a week already? Those that know their K-pop history may be familiar with Park Jiyoon since her idol days, but a few years ago she turned towards singer-songwriter path. It started with her seventh full-length album and continued on her eighth full-length album, where she’s been assisted by Asher Park and members from No Reply and Dear Cloud. As you can gather from the below the album in question has been quite successful on the latest Korean digital chart from Gaon.

A number of indie songs left Gaon‘s digital chart, but 10cm‘s presence remain strong. It’s curious to see how new releases also increase interest in related older songs to the point that they can enter the chart as well.

Took me a few months, but I finally figured out that Shim Kyu Sun, as I’ve referred to her previously, goes by Lucia when her name isn’t written in hangul. She’s been releasing a few digital singles together with Epitone Project and the latest one, Sakura Moment, was released on May 19. The single comes with but one track called 꽃처럼 한 철만 사랑해 줄 건가요?
On June 23 a movie called Play will open in Korean cinemas and it stars the members of soft rock band Mate as three guys wanting to start a band. The soundtrack was released on May 19. Check out the music video for album track 늦은 아침 here. Check out the movie trailer here.

Hip-hop duo Eluphant released a single called 여전히 아름답네요 online on May 4 with the CD release coming up on May 17. For the title track they featured Kwon Jung Yeol of 10cm, something that allkpop saw fit to mention last week: Eluphant collaborates with 10cm for “You’re Still Beautiful”.
On May 4 Taru released a new electronic pop song on a one-track digital single called Better Together. It was used in a joint Nate and Cyworld campaign already last year, but this time the song is made available as a sample from her upcoming mini album 100% Reality.
It was recently reported that IU’s special edition of her 3rd mini-album, “REAL“, which is scheduled to be released this coming December 9th, has already sold out for pre-order sales after only a few days.
The special edition of “REAL” was a way of expressing IU’s gratitude to her fans, and it contains the album, a photo spread, a calendar, and post-its.
Both the online and offline pre-order sales began on December 9th, but due to high demand for the hot product, all 5000 units were sold out during the weekend.
“Even we were surprised at how fast they got sold. The distributors are currently asking us for more orders, but unfortunately it’s not possible to produce additional units for now. Because of the sold out special editions, we will begin regular sales a day earlier than planned,” revealed IU’s agency.
Meanwhile, IU will be making her official comeback through KBS 2TV’s Music Bank on December 10th.
